IRIS IVF Centre in Mumbai at Saraogi Hospital is a leading fertility clinic that exclusively deals with infertility treatments. We offer a whole range of advanced treatments and procedures using cutting-edge equipment and technology.

IMSI treatment in Mumbai is one such advanced technology that we provide to help you realize your dream of becoming a parent. Over the years, we have successfully treated 18000+ patients.

IMSI (intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection) is a technique used in IVF treatments. It is an enhanced version of ICSI in which high-quality sperm is injected into the egg for fertilization.

The best sperm cells are selected using a high-powered microscope which is then used for the ICSI procedure. ICSI uses a magnification of x400, while IMSI uses an amplification of 6600X, which is at least 15 times higher.

It permits a more precise examination of the sperm, including the nucleus, which includes the genetic material of the sperm. This procedure has resulted in a higher rate of pregnancy and childbirth, and a lower rate of abortion.

IMSI treatment in Mumbai is a good option for anyone who has previously failed IVF cycles or couples with male infertility. Also, the IMSI & IVF treatment cost in Mumbai at IRIS IVF Centre is affordable compared to other clinics.

Step by step IMSI procedure

Step I: Preparation of semen sample

Our embryologist prepares the semen sample provided by the male partner using a specific solution to eliminate any impurities.

Before the IMSI treatment, our embryologist uses centrifugation to separate the viable cells.

Step II: Sperm selection

To choose the most suitable sperm for injecting into the egg, our embryologist will analyze the sperm under a high magnification microscope.

IMSI uses a high magnification of about 6600X to determine the sperm morphology. Only morphologically normal sperm are chosen for injection into the egg by the embryologist.

These sperm have a higher pregnancy rate. Through the microscope, we can observe the minuscule vacuoles. We will not select sperms having an abnormal head size and large vacuoles. IMSI helps in choosing the most suitable sperm.

Step III: Egg selection

Under ultrasound guidance, a needle is inserted transvaginally to aspirate the egg follicles and extract the eggs.

The eggs are washed with an enzyme to extract unnecessary components after being collected. They are then examined under a microscope to determine which eggs are healthy and mature.

Step IV: Sperm injection

The doctor will place the chosen sperm in the pipette under the microscope and inject it into the egg. The injected eggs will be cultured in a sterile culture petri dish overnight in an incubator.

We will check the microinjected eggs for signs of fertilization at regular intervals. Once they are fertilized, they are known as embryos.

After a few days, our IVF specialist will transfer 1-2 embryos into the uterus. We will do a urinary pregnancy test after two weeks to confirm pregnancy.

Elevate your fertility treatment with advanced IMSI technology in Mumbai

What is the purpose of an IMSI?

IMSI treatment in Mumbai improves the chances of embryo fertilization and growth, particularly for those who have had unsuccessful IVF or ICSI treatment or males with a high number of abnormal sperms.

IMSI helps select sperm with extreme precision. It includes evaluating sperm at a thousand-fold higher magnification. Minor morphological sperm defects, which are generally overlooked with ICSI, may thus be observed. The sperms in ICSI may appear healthy, but they may not have the ability to fertilize.

With IMSI, males with low sperm count, reduced motility, or poor morphology may have better-selected sperm and a higher fertilization rate. IMSI is more effective than ICSI, thus resulting in a higher success rate.

At IRIS IVF Centre, we have seen that IMSI improves clinical pregnancy rates in our patients. In certain cases, it has also reduced abortion rates. The IMSI-selected viable sperms can be used in IVF or ICSI treatments to improve the chances of a successful outcome.

Who is a good candidate for an IMSI treatment?

Our IVF specialist recommends the IMSI treatment in Mumbai for men suffering from:
  1. Irregularly shaped sperms
  2. Low amount of sperm in a semen sample
  3. Poor sperm motility
IMSI is also an excellent option for women in conditions like:
  1. Two or more failed ICSI or IVF treatments
  2. For women aged 40 years and more
  3. Multiple abortions or miscarriages in the past

What are the benefits of IMSI Treatment?

  1. With morphologically regular sperm selection, the risk of miscarriage is reduced in IMSI, as the possibility of genetic abnormality in the embryo is lowered.
  2. Improved embryo quality due to IMSI increases the pregnancy rates.
  3. Since the intracellular damage is easily detectable in IMSI, the chances of conceiving are high.
  4. It may also help couples with unexplained fertility.

What are the disadvantages of IMSI Treatment?

  1. IMSI is an advanced technique that is time-consuming.
  2. Further, it requires a high-resolution microscope which is not available in all the IVF labs. So, few IVF centres offer IMSI treatment.
  3. Also, the IMSI treatment cost in Mumbai is higher than in ICSI due to ultra-modern technology.

What is the IMSI success rate in Mumbai?

The IMSI success rate in Mumbai is higher than ICSI as it provides a higher rate for pregnancy and live birth. It helps reduce miscarriage, increases implantation, and reduces aneuploidy. Overall, it increases the success rate of IVF treatment.

FAQ

For every infertile couple, the IMSI cost in Mumbai is acceptable and cheap. This treatment package is slightly more expensive than IVF or ICSI because it is one of the most effective male infertility treatments. The cost of IMSI treatment in Mumbai is around Rs.2,50,000; it is a combo of IVF and IMSI.

Clinical IMSI is a successful IVF-ET approach that produces excellent clinical outcomes such as higher implantation and pregnancy rates than traditional ICSI.

To begin, a sperm sample is prepared by filtering away low-quality sperm using a variety of methods. The embryologist will also evaluate the remaining “healthy” sperms under a microscope. Then, the embryologist will select the “best sperm” with a fine glass needle.

After 12 to 14 days of embryo transfer, our IVF specialist in Mumbai will schedule a blood test to monitor the hCG hormone level. The examination will reveal if the pregnancy was successful or not. The success rate of ICSI is between 35% and 45%. However, the couple’s health, their egg and sperm quality, and the IVF doctor’s and embryologist’s skill all play a role.

The embryo transfer procedure is usually performed two to three days after conception. The patient is recommended to reduce stress, eat a healthy diet, practice yoga, and meditate to relax their minds and bodies. There is no need to stay in bed. A relaxed body and a pleasant mindset improve the odds of a safe pregnancy and childbirth.
